The Bishop's Palace was built, in 1897, at the request of Bishop Joachim Sgouros, in the elders of the city, in 1892, to house the services of the Bishop Church of Xanthi and Peritheorio but it also served as living space, of each Bishop. In the picture you see the Bishop's Palace and the Cathedral in 1920. You can see a school celebration in the Mitropolis Square in front of the Bishop's Building. In the picture you can see, the Bishop's Palace, probably photographed, from the steeple of the Church of John the Baptist. Architectural Description: This is a two-storey neoclassical building, with an imposing view and with absolute symmetry between facades and floor plans. The pediments, above the windows of the upper floor , the imposing entrance, with arched lintels and the large balcony characterize the appearance of the building. Inside, there is a spacious lounge as well as reception areas and acoustic spaces . On the back, north side of the building, and on the large window of the staircase there is a painted skylight (stained glass). Over time: The Bishop's Palace, continues to operate without interruption, from its foundation until today.
